31 - Original Kipper          31 - Suspicions

Original Title = Brief Illness.  (Kurz Krankheit.)

Imagery = A sensitive woman has become uneasy and taken to her bed. The condescending family doctor merely checks her pulse.

This card represents an unshakeable feeling that something is not right.
This card is the opposite of card 17; and exudes a Negative tone.

This card describes RESPECT, and can be judged as a lesser form of card 33.

This card is an acknowledgement of there being an unworthiness opinion pertaining to truthfulness and/or identity. In a Spread it is usually a flag that the associated bestower distrusts the Querant (whether justified or not). Alternatively is could be a caution for you to, at the momemt, not be fully receptive to whatever it is that is being presented.

Traditionally this card could indicate in a Spread that at the point a breif timeout is in order (but note that this will only be because of a brief indisposition, and not a nefarious reason).

Historically as was shown in old books and movies, proper women were considered frail and liable to fainting at the slightest hint of impropriety. Nowadays women are assumed to take to bed only if there is a serious physical malady, so it is understandable from the illustration how this card can be misperceived. The new label of Suspicions is thus a better title for contemporary understanding, as it makes reference to the overarching concept of misgivings (rather than a medical health problem).

|| In the past this card was often titled "Malaise", and indicated uneasiness and suspicion. Alternatively it could also have indicated any sort of brief indisposition. ||
