The Lenormand Cards are a complex 36 card forecasting system without any overlaying esoteric baggage, named after a French Cartomancer from the early nineteenth century. It is claimed that, much like the game of GO, it is easy to learn but difficult to master. The deck is intended for answering questions of a bipolar mundane physical nature, as its revelations are in a manner allegorical to that which a court 'witness' could have observed.
Lenormand cards are identified by their "Name" alone (note that often a pictogram is used instead of the word). All the traditional numbering order and inserts placed on a card are merely decoration for mnemonic purposes, and should never influence a Reading (for example, a deck of 36 blank cards to which you merely pencil on the individual cards names, would make a legitimate Lenormand deck). The Lenormand uniquely differs from other traditional cartomancy systems in that cards are always read paired; so as to indicate the Subject, and its one or more Expressions (with 35 possible pairings for each card, the total number of possible permutations for a minimal two card draw is an astounding 1,260).
Each card expresses a general concept. However with the cards having to represent the multitude of life's things and situations, often a Cartomancer will have to determine for themselves what card is best associated with what. Once an association has been decided upon (such as for example, Fox for employee or Whip for sex), the Cartomancer should stick with it consistently.
